Hand & Wrist

The hands and wrists are made up of many ligaments, tendons, muscles, and bones that allow for a wide range of dexterity and movements. Ligaments bind together the joints in our wrists and hands. The muscles in our hands and wrists contract to allow for the movement of bones. Tendons connect the muscles in the hand or arm to the bone to provide movement.

There are three types of bones found in the hands and wrists. The phalanges are located in the fingers of each hand. Each finger has three phalanges, while the thumbs only have two. The metacarpal bones are the five bones found in the middle of your hand. The carpal bones are the eight bones that make up your wrist.
